Broken Bones

Never a dull moment around here. On Friday, we went to the Sachses for dinner. Eli had been the Abba Shel Shabbat in gan and came home with a suitcase full of things that he needed for that important job because apparently the job carries over from school to home. Simon had a fit because the suitcase didn't exist last year when he was in Gan Daphna. Anyway, we took a bunch of the things to the Sachses house so that Eli could make kiddush from the special cup and give out the special "shabbat shalom" napkins. It was very cute and he did a great job.
Sometime during dinner, Simon and Asher decided that they wanted a sleep-over, so Asher came home with us. On the way home, the boys were running and Simon tripped over a tree branch and fell hard on his arm. He cried a lot but then seemed to be ok and he could move his arm and bend his fingers so we thought he was ok. He stayed up late talking to Asher and seemed fine. In the morning, he refused to use his arm at all but he said it didn't hurt unless we touched it. I happened to be looking out the window and saw Tasha and Jeremy walking into shul, so I called to Jeremy (who is a doctor) to come over and look at Simon. He said that he was pretty sure his wrist was broken but since he wasn't screaming in pain (or seemingly in pain at all) that we could wait until after Shabbos and then take him for an x-ray.
David wasn't feeling well so I took the kids to the people we were going to for lunch by myself and luckily everyone behaved decently and we managed to avoid the rain while we were walking. Someone else who was there was also a doctor and she agreed with Jeremy's diagnosis that it was probably broken but not a severe break.
After Shabbos, Simon and I went to the moked, which I guess is an urgent care clinic. It's basically the place to go when the doctors offices are closed and you don't really want to go to the emergency room. There's one that is specifically for children which is where we went. We've been there once before a few years ago with Eli and once again I was really impressed with how smoothly everything went. We got seen almost right away and he got X-rayed and then we saw the orthopedist who confirmed that his wrist is broken in 2 places. He put on a cast and then Simon had to get another x-ray and we saw the doctor again to confirm that it all looked good in the cast. We were in and out in under 2 hours with instructions to make an appointment with an orthopedist in a week and that he'll probably need the cast for about 3 weeks.
We went for ice cream on the way home to celebrate Simon's bravery.
Today he went to school and came home with lots of signatures on his cast.

I think he just did it for the ice cream! Feel better Simon!
