Friday was parade day. For some reason the City of Ra'anana decided to have the annual Purim parade on Friday morning, while the kids had school. We decided to let them skip school so that they could go to the parade. It was about 85 degrees out but Simon really wanted to wear his costume anyway. Eli did not want to wear his and was very emphatic about that! We actually ended up with a fairly good spot to stand at the parade where the kids could see everything. We were all the way at the end of the parade route so by the time the people in the parade got to us they were pretty hot and tired, but it was fun to watch anyway. We met up with various friends and then tried to go out for lunch after but everything was too crowded so in the end we went home and then David took the kids to the mall for Burger King.
The heat wave continued on Shabbos. I actually made it to shul for the first time in a very long time! We went to the Leboffs for lunch and had a very nice time. Simon and Dylan entertained themselves and Eli in the backyard which is always a good thing. After lunch we went to the park where we met up with Jamie, Carrie and Ellie who were in from Boston. So nice to see them!! We stayed in the park for most of the afternoon enjoying the weather and playing with friends.
Today the kids went to gan in their coustumes--Simon was a Hot Wheels Driver and Eli was Spiderman. In the afternoon, Simon told me that he really didn't want to be a Hot Wheels Driver for Purim anymore and could he be Spiderman again. I said ok and that we would get a new costume for Eli who had been wearing Simon's Spiderman costume from last year. Simon then said Eli could keep Spiderman and he wanted a new costume and actually he wanted to be Batman like Shaya. So much for not having to buy any new costumes!! He still has to wear a costume to shul tomorrow night and to the 2 seudahs that we are going to on Tuesday so I figured he could get a new costume and still get a lot of use out of it. And he wore the Hot Wheels to the parade and to gan so he got good use of that too. He got a Batman costume and I bought David a Michael Jackson wig and glasses for his costume. I am going to be a punk rocker. Pictures will come later!
We went out for dinner with Tali and her boys to Schnitzels where the kids were all insane but they ate all their food and it was early so there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant so hopefully it was ok!
