Moving has proven itself to be one giant pain in the butt. We love our new place and Simon is thrilled to have his own room...now, if only he would spend the full night in his new room instead of coming into our bed every night/early morning.
However, we've now been here for a week and a half and it's only been over the past couple of days that we have had a working sink and dishwasher and we still don't have a stove. Stovetop number 2 is now sitting in the kitchen waiting to be installed. We made sure to ask before we moved in whether the stove was gas or electric. We were told definitively that it was electric. So we bought an electric stovetop only to then be told that it required something called tri-phase electricity which it turns out this apartment doesn't have. We had an electrician come and he said we don't need tri-phase, but we just need a separate circuit for the stovetop. The landlord basically said he wasn't going to pay to have tri-phase put in but before we talked to him about just putting in a new circuit for the stovetop, we found out that there is in fact a gas line that comes into the kitchen so we could have gas, which we'd prefer anyway. So now we just have to wait for the gas company to come on Monday and then once they reopen the line and install a meter we can then call the installer to come install the stove. I'm guessing we will have a working stove by the end of July. Until then, no pasta or omelets or soup for us!
