Friday is the New Sunday

Since Sunday is a regular workday and schoolday here in the land of the Jews, Friday is the official day off (although the kids have school). I think it's not in any way a replacement for a Sunday because the whole day is spent running around getting ready for Shabbos. But, this week, our friends the Dicksons decided to pretent it was actually a Sunday and they had a barbecue on Friday afternoon. It was a lot of fun! It was them, us and 2 other families. The food was great and the kids had a blast in their big above-ground pool. The pool is deep enough that they can swim and shallow enough that they can all stand. Eli was in an inner-tube most of the time. There was one point when only Eli and Simon were in the pool. I was watching them out of the corner of my eye and suddenly I couldn't see Eli anymore and I heard Simon saying "look Eli is swimming!! He's swimming!!" Yeah, if by "swimming" Simon meant "drowning" then that is what Eli was doing. Michael was right next to the pool so he grabbed Eli and he was perfectly fine, just a little bit scared. I explained to Simon that Eli doesn't actually know how to swim!!

Our cousins Yakira, Kobi and Shalom (they are 18, 16 and 14) came from Alon Shvut to stay with us for Shabbos. It was great to have them and I think a good time was had by all. We ate at home last night and had dessert outside on our new outdoor furniture that we finally got after talking about getting outdoor furniture for almost a full year.

Today we went to the Moores for lunch and had fun except for Simon had a million temper tantrums because he was in the worst mood for some reason. We came home around 4 and David took the kids to the park since it was too late for them to nap. Dodi and Marc came over around 5 because they were in town for a Bar Mitzvah. We yelled to David from our porch to the park to come home to see them. We all hung out for a bit and then they left. Yakira and Shalom went to take very late naps and Eli was walking around saying "where is Shalom? where is Shalom?" And then when Yakira got up, he said "there is Shalom!" Apparently he was a little confused.
