A Day Out With Thomas (in the rain)

At long last, the time for our "Day Out With Thomas" arrived. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain, but it is a rain or shine event, so we got in the car and drove an hour and a half to Carver, MA to see Thomas. It would have been really great had it been a nice day--the rain made it more of a pain than anything else, but we had a good time anyway. First we walked around and went to the indoor area where there was stuff to look at and play with and a line to wait and take a picture with Sir Topham Hatt. Simon looked a little bit freaked out when he saw Sir Topham Hatt, but we got a picture and then it was time to go wait in line for our turn to ride on Thomas. They basically take a train and add a Thomas car to the front, so you don't actually ride on Thomas himself. Simon was very excited to be on the train although he seemed a little bit disappointed at how slowly it was going. The train ride was about 20 minutes long and there were lots of things to see along the way. Then, we got back and waited in another line to have our pictures taken with Thomas. The one that they took at the place came out good and we bought an 8x10 of it and a little keychain with the picture. It will apparently be online on Tuesday, so I'll post the link when it's up. Simon really liked being that close to Thomas. From there, we went to the story-telling tent and listened to some songs for a few minutes and then bought a super-pretzel and headed to the car. We definitely spent more time in the car than we did there, but it was probably worth it. Simon also had a lot of fun splashing in the puddles and running around in the rain.
He slept most of the way home, which meant no nap this afternoon. We got home and he asked for chicken soup for lunch and then also had some of the noodles that I was eating. I went to take a nap and I don't know what David and Simon were doing but it involved making a whole lot of noise.
Later on, Simon and I were playing with his trains and his dinosaurs. He set up a whole dinosaur village and he took 4 rocks and said "'dis Mommy, 'dis Simon, 'dis Dada, 'dis baby brudder too!" Then he took a steamroller and said "uh-oh, steamroller takin' baby brudder and Simon." At least the steamroller was taking both of them and not just baby brudder.
Despite his protestations that he didn't want anything for dinner, Simon ate a decent amount of scrambeled eggs with cheese and veggies. He's now having a bath and then will hopefully be in bed soon because he is exhausted. Last time I got him in bed before 7:30, he didn't actually go to sleep until after 9 so we'll see what happens.
