This morning we went to Isabella's birthday party which got rescheduled from last week because of the snow storm. Simon was very excited that we put her present in a bag that had Mickey Mouse on it. He is very into birthdays and kept saying "Simon birthday? Nooooo. Bella birthday!" For some reason he freaked out when we got to the party and didn't even want to take off his jacket. He warmed up after a little while and had fun even though the theme of the party was princesses and he's not so into the girly stuff. He was pushing a baby doll around in a stroller, and for a while he was walking with Abby who was pushing the stroller and they looked like a miniature couple who had adopted a baby from Africa. If Abby had darker hair, they could have been mistaken for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie!
After the party, we stopped at Snip Its to get Simon a haircut. He cried and cried at first, but was willing to sit in the chair and be distracted by some bubbles. He ended up liking to watch his haircut in the mirror and then he saw another kid get a lollipop and he remembered that something good always comes out of getting a haircut. He waited for his "wowwywop" until after his haircut was done so that it wouldn't get hair all over it and this time I even let him keep it and didn't make him throw it out before we got in the car. He also picked out a little car and a little bike that we bought too because he was so good.
When we got home, he went fairly willingly to take a nap with his new car and new bike. It took him a very long time to fall asleep but he then slept until David woke him up at 5:30. Then we ate dinner and then David and Simon went a little psycho. First they got into Simon's crib, which Simon thought was the funniest thing that has ever happened. I tucked them in and left and a few minutes later they were both yelling "help me!" because they couldn't get out. Once I helped them out, they were running around the house screaming at the top of their lungs. Hopefully Simon has now been thoroughly tired out and will go to sleep right after his bath which he is having now.
Tomorrow we have a playdate with Gordon and Henley, who live in our old building. Apparently, everytime they pass by our old door Gordon (he is 3 and Henley is the exact same age as Simon) asks why Simon had to move away. How cute?
