Simon learned his whole name this weekend. Pam told me that Simon said his name is Simon Booger Shabbos. I decided that it's not going to be good for him to walk around thinking that his name is actually Booger (even though we call him that a lot) so I set out to teach him his full name. He caught on really quickly even though I thought he'd be confused since he knows he has a cousin named Ezra, but now when I ask him his whole name he says "Simon Ezra Kir-shi-baum." Much like when he says refridgerator, it takes him a long time to say Kirschenbaum and he doesn't pronounce it exactly right, but it is close enough.
We had a very nice Shabbos. Last night, Simon ate a lot of snacks while David and I were getting dinner ready, so he didn't eat much dinner. He did drink a lot of oj out of his little kiddush cup and he held it up to David and said "how 'bout cheers?" and then they clinked glasses. He didn't even want to stay at the table, so I told him he could go play, but he insisted that one of us come and play with him (something that he rarely does). David ended up going with him and I ate Shabbos dinner alone while reading People magazine. It was actually quite nice! Simon got 2 books in the mail yesterday--birthday present from his friends Aviav and Carolyn. One is about a stuck truck and one is about a garbage truck and he loves them. We read them over and over again before he went to bed last night.
This morning, he woke up around 8 and I got up and we played and ate breakfast. He really wanted to go to shul, so we woke up David at 10 and the 2 of them left close to 11. Apparently, they got as far as Charles' and David asked Simon if he wanted to go to shul or to Chucky's house. Simon chose Chucky's house, but it turned out Chucky was in shul, so they went to shul but got there just in time for the end of kiddush. They got home and we all ate lunch together and then played and then despite Simon telling me a million times "NO NAPS!" he went to bed with no argument and fell asleep immediately and slept from 2:30 until after 5:30.
After we all had naps, David made us a yummy dinner of tuna and pickles inside green peppers. Simon thought this was a very funny thing to eat and he actually ate a good amount of it. He played really nicely by himself with his trains in the den for a while and then asked to take a shower instead of a tubby. David took him in the shower and he was all dressed in his pj's when Grandy and Papu came to babysit for him while we went to Farrah's birthday party (don't tell Simon that it was someone else's birthday!). He was very excited to see them and he showed Grandy the fun game we had discovered on the Thomas website where you can color in the trains. When we left, Simon and Grandy and Papu were all dancing in the kitchen.
