It's no wonder that Simon thinks that every day is his birthday--today he got 2 more presents in the mail. Sarah, Jon and Joshua sent him a Thomas quarry track set. It's very cool--it has a boulder that you put at the top of the quarry and then you put a train on the tracks, press a button and the big boulder falls and pushes the train down the tracks, knocking over a water tower, a bridge, and a house. It's just like one of the Thomas episodes and Simon really likes it. I had fun playing with it too. He also got a foam tool box book and a basketball hoop that attaches to the wall or a door and a little basketball. He had a great time playing with that--we attached it to the wall of the bath tub and David taught him how to dunk. Simon kept saying "I slam dunk" and then shrieking as he carefully placed the ball in the basket.
We all ate dinner together. Simon ate chicken with ketchup and some noodles. Then he pointed to the leftover cake from his birthday which was on the windowsill behind him and said "I have cake now." So he did. He ate it with his hands and got blue frosting all over them. He held up his hands and said "look, Mommy. Gross." He also wanted everything that David had and insisted on having ice and a straw with his drink. He's gotten really good at drinking out of a regular cup.
After his fun basketball-filled bath, we watched his new favorite thing--the new Jib-Jab spoof called "Matzah." It's really funny and Simon loves to watch it. We highly recommend it--go to www.jibjab.com and click on "Matzah." After that, we read a couple of books that Simon picked out including the Barney book about getting a big-boy bed (it's actually about a big-girl bed, but we changed the words) that Savti got him. He handed me the Little Engine that Could, but then closed it in the middle and said he wanted to pick a different one instead. After the books, we sang some songs. In the middle of Hatikvah, he said "all done. In cribby now." And he went to sleep.
