This weekend, Joshua is town. Simon is having a great time playing with him, which basically means just following him around and doing everything that he does. They were really cute in shul yesterday--Joshua had a bowl of Mike and Ike's and Simon really wanted some. Joshua told him to get his own, but then he accidentally tipped the bowl and 3 fell out. Simon immediately fell to the floor and pounced on them, shoving them into his mouth as fast as he could before Joshua could tell him no! They got along really well all afternoon. They were playing together unsupervised while we were eating lunch and there didn't seem to be any fights or anything bad happening. Poor Simon had a bit of a rough day though. First, David took him to the basement to play pool and he was standing on a stool that he thought was wider than it was, so he fell off backwards and landed on his head. Then, a little while after that, he was running and tripped over the threshold and fell on his face and got a fat lip. It was very sad. Then he had a long nap and was much better after that.
Last night, Simon had a sleep-over at Grandy's. He asked to go home a few times before he went to bed and then he really wanted to go to Sarah's house, but then he ultimately went to bed without any problems, and apparently woke up happy so his second sleepover was a success. Before he went to sleep, Sarah was in the kitchen and Simon told her that he wanted to cook. Since she didn't know his cooking routine at Grandy's house, he patiently pointed to the spatula and said "spatula" then he went to the lazy susan and pointed to it and said "bowl please." Then he went to the counter and said "up." Then when he was sitting with the bowl and the spatula on the counter he said "chee-e-os please." He cooked his cheerios for a little while and then went to bed.
Today we went to Elan's 1st birthday party. First we went to Magic Beans to buy his present. Simon picked it out for him and then also picked out a little police car for himself which is his new favorite toy at least for today. He had a great time at the party where he saw the fish tank that he loves, played with Isabella and Abby and other kids, and ate cake. Rafi and Laurie and their baby (who isn't such a baby anymore) Liana happened to be in town from Riverdale so they were there too and it was great to see them.
From the party we went straight to IParty to buy a Purim costume. I had ordered a Thomas costume for Simon, but it hasn't come yet so I'm afraid that it won't be here on time. I got him a chef's costume. It's not as good as Thomas, but it will have to do. Then we came home for Simon to take a nap. He's been in his crib for almost an hour and I still hear him talking. Something tells me that a nap just isn't going to happen today.
