Back From Virginia and Simon Meets Ayelet

The rest of our trip to Virginia was fun, although Simon and Joshua had some big fights over a little yellow motorcycle. Joshua was a VERY good sharer and let Simon play with it for almost the whole day, but then really wanted it back later in the afternoon. Simon was devastated and it was very sad. He got over it eventually (and luckily Joshua was wearing several layers of clothing so he didn't actually notice when Simon bit him out of anger). Later on, they were playing with a toy stroller and Joshua got the concept of taking turns, so he would run across the room pushing it and then would give it to Simon and then Simon would run across the room pushing it but clearly had no intention of giving it back to Joshua, who would then take it and Simon would have a fit until Joshua finished his turn and gave it back. It took literally 15 or 20 times before Simon caught on to the whole taking turns thing.
We left bright and early this morning to fly home. The Air Tran check-in person was nice enough to offer to let us move our seats so that we would actually be sitting next to each other--that meant sitting in the last row of the plane, which wasn't such a big deal, but she neglected to tell us that there are no windows in that row!! For anyone who is claustrophobic, you will know that sitting in a row with no windows is my biggest nightmare. And the flight was completely packed so there was no where to go. Poor Simon kept looking at where the window should be and saying sadly, "weeeendow, no weeeeendow." He fell asleep pretty soon after take-off and slept until after we landed, so that was good.
This afternoon, we went over to the Levines' to see Judah and Karen's new baby, Ayelet. She is very cute, as evidenced by the picture! Simon had fun playing with Dahlia and with Elan who was there too. He did not have fun playing with Gus (the dog), however. I thought it was just Jackson who scared him because he hasn't seemed to be bothered by other dogs. He was actually ok as long as Gus didn't come near him, but as soon as he did, he freaked out.
Simon was a very good boy at bedtime--I left him reading books on the bed for a few minutes and I could hear him reading out loud to himself and singing songs along with the book that he was looking at. He was exhausted so he went to sleep with no arguments.
