Simons Meets His New Friend Ian!

We had a great weekend in New York where we went for the bris of Ian Zachary Milstein (of whom, unfortunately I have no pictures since the only time we really saw him was on Shabbos!!). After the bris, Simon and I went into the City and had lunch with Jill. Jill introduced Simon to his new favorite food--candy corn. He also drew with red crayon on her hardwood floor. Luckily, Josh wasn't home to see that, he didn't draw on the white couch, and crayon comes out of hard wood floor pretty easily!! Simon stayed up VERY late on Friday night partying--a good number of people thought it was cute to give Simon beer and other alcohol, so while each person only gave him a sip, I think he had a lot of sips because he seemed to be a little bit drunk. I guess he got past the overtired cranky stage because he was just crazy and bouncing off the walls. Eventually we took him back to where we were staying so that he could go to sleep. I was hoping he'd sleep really late, but he woke up at 8:30. We went to shul, which was nice because we saw lots of Riverdale people who we hadn't seen in so long. After lunch, Simon slept from 1:30 until almost 5:30! That was good because then I took him back into the City to see Janet. When we got to her place, Eddie opened the door and Simon took one look at him and sort of whispered "NO" and then burst into tears. Eddie looks exactly like Santa Claus and just totally freaked Simon out. He warmed up after a while and had a great time eating ice cream, playing musical instruments and playing with stickers. We went from there to Corner Cafe with a bunch of people. Simon behaved so well considering that it was almost 9pm by the time we got our food. He scarfed down his baked ziti and then ran around the restaurant. On Sunday, we went to West Hempstead to see Alli and Coby play hockey--they are very cute!! Simon played with Ezra and didn't even try to bite him. We also got to see the construction zone that is Huvi's house--it makes us feel better about our own construction zone, but it remains to be seen whose work will be done first! From Huvi's we went to Mama's--as soon as we got out of the elevator and Simon saw Mama down the hall, he said "No, Mama." She was smart and had a toy in her hand so he forgot that he usually cries when he sees her! He had a lot of fun playing with Mama and Judy and then finally it was time to go home. He had a good nap in the car and then made Charles watch Baby Einstein with him over and over again. He was very happy to see Grandy when we got home to "Papu's house" (that's what he said as we pulled into the driveway) and he insisted on taking his little bus to bed with him. He was cuddling up with it the way he usually cuddles up with BrrrpBrrrp.
