We arrived in Florida very late last night and Simon (and David and I too) are very happy to be out of the cold and in the warm sun! Simon was pretty good on the plane--thank god for the directv on JetBlue and he even kept the headphones on for a while. He finally fell asleep about an hour into the flight and slept the rest of the way. As soon as we landed and the lights came on, he sat straight up wide awake and announced "all done!" Once we got to Savti and Zayde's house, Simon had to do some exploring and playing with toys before he could go to bed, so he didn't actually go to sleep until almost 1am. He slept until about 8:45 and then we went to see Gramma Sarah and Grampa Syd at their house. Simon had a great time playing with the big truck that they got for him and running up and down the outdoor hallway at their apartment complex. He liked to look through the railing and yell "hi down there" to all of the cars in the parking lot. When we got back to Savti and Zayde's house, he took a VERY long nap. He was still sleeping when David and I left to go out for dinner and didn't wake up until shortly before we got home (granted we did go out to eat at 5pm so that David wouldn't have to miss too much of the Bears game, but it was still a very long nap). He had a lot of fun watching the football game and got just as excited as everyone else did when the Bears won. It is so funny to watch him get so excited and cheer and yell "touchdown!"
Savti got him a "little people" chanukah set--it's a little kitchen and table and chairs with a little frummy family and there is a menorah that plays Chanukah songs when you press it. Simon likes to set up the whole thing very nicely and then kick them so they all fly across the room. He also likes to press the menorah and then dance to the music.
Tomorrow Simon's cousins Alli and Ezra will be here and I'm sure Simon will be very happy to see them--hopefully he and Ezra will get along and there won't be any biting...
