Today I arrived to pick up Simon to find him wearing a giant (on him) shirt that said El Paso, Texas on it. Pam had brought them for all the kids when she went to Texas a few weeks ago. There were several different ones and Simon had the same one as Leander, which he liked a lot. Pam's sister Barbara (Baw-ba-bwa, according to Simon) was there too and it was her birthday so they had had cake that was out on the table outside. The kids all kept running up to it and stealing M&M's from the top when they thought no one was looking.
We had to hurry home to be here in time for the grocery delivery from PeaPod. Luckily we didn't attempt to stop at the butcherie first because we got home just as the PeaPod guy was pulling up. Simon showed him where to put the bags and then said "bye-bye" and showed him the door and closed it behind him. Then he decided he wanted to watch the truck pull away, so we stood in the doorway and Simon said that he saw flowers and grapes on the truck (they were painted on). I asked him what else he saw and he said "matoe, BIG pepper, and S Simon." That "S Simon" was really the "S" in "Stop n' Shop."
We put away the groceries and made some tortellini for dinner. Simon was trying to get on his chair and he he somehow managed to bump his head on the edge of the kitchen table, which is made out of granite. He cried for a long time. That was his first injury of the night. Later on, he and David were in the kitchen and he fell off his chair and hit the back of his head on the bookshelf. He cried less for that one, but he has a big bump. When I was putting him to bed, he suddenly said "head still hurts. Ruh-lly hurts. Need ice." I called for David to bring him ice and then he threw a mini-fit because he wanted ice directly on his head and not in a ziploc back. We put the ice on for a few minutes and then I tucked him into bed and lay down with him for a few minutes and we sang some songs. Then he asked me "you head ok?" I said yes and asked if his was ok and he said yes. Poor guy--good thing he has such a hard head because he seems to fall on it a lot!
